Publix Super Markets Charities recently granted $5,000 to support Safe Children Coalition's Achievers program for the 2021 program year.

For the past 31 years, the Safe Children Coalition's Achievers Program has helped youth to succeed both academically and socially as they receive the support necessary to reach their highest potential. The target population for Achievers is at-risk, minority and other disadvantaged youth in Sarasota County’s middle and high schools. Achievers gives participants the opportunity to engage in career and college exploration opportunities, academic skill building, leadership activities and numerous workshops intended to address educational and achievement disparities. The program ultimately increases student participation in school programs, decreases school absenteeism and dropout rates, and prevents delinquent behavior.

In 2021, Achievers aims to serve 300 at-risk, minority and other disadvantaged youth in Sarasota County’s middle and high schools. Fore more about this program and Safe Children Coalition, visit sccfl.org.
