Road Closures Set For 2017 Sarasota Holiday Parade
More than 25,000 people are expected to line the streets of downtown Sarasota during the annual holiday parade.

SARASOTA, FL – The holiday season here in Sarasota, and so are all the annual events that come along with the season.
The largest event of the season, the 22nd annual Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade, is set to take place on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. More than 25,000 people are expected to line the streets to enjoy the sights and sounds of the season.
The Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade will take its usual course starting at the corner of Main Street and U.S. Highway 301. The parade will stay on Main Street and end near J.D. Hamel Park at Gulfstream Avenue.

The Sarasota Police Department has announced the following tow-away zones and street closures before, during and after the parade’s scheduled start:
Saturday at 7 a.m. until Sunday at 12:30 a.m.

- Main Street closed from U.S. Highway 301 to U.S. Highway 41
- Audubon Place closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road
Saturday at noon until Sunday at 12:30 a.m.
- Fletcher Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road
- Wallace Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road
- East Avenue closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard
- School Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Avenue
Saturday at 2:30 p.m. until Sunday at 12:30 a.m.
- Lemon Avenue closed from First Street to Main Street
Saturday at 3 p.m. until Sunday at 12:30 a.m.
- Gulfstream Avenue closed from U.S. Highway 41 to McAnsh Square
Roads are scheduled to reopen when the end of the parade reaches a two-block distance from each road closure. The Sarasota Police Department reported that vehicles not removed by the posted time will be towed at the owner’s expense.
