Sarasota Closings for New Years Long Weekend
Government takes a holiday January 2.

Most Sarasota County government offices, including libraries, the History Center and recreation centers, will be closed Sunday, Jan. 1, and Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, for the New Year’s holiday.
The City of Sarasota’s administrative offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, and parking meters and pay stations will not be enforced on Jan. 2.
Sarasota County Parks and Recreation’s and will be open noon-5 p.m. on Jan. 2. All other Sarasota County Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed Jan. 2.

The city’s will be closed on Sunday, New Years’ Day, but will be open on Jan. 2. The will be closed on New Years Day and the following Monday. The “Rec” will reopen on Jan. 3. The city’s will be open for play throughout the holiday.

Residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county will have their normal trash collection schedule. City residents too will enjoy their normal trash collection schedule.
The county’s chemical collection centers at 8750 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, and 250 S. Jackson Road, Venice, are closed Jan. 1. The Sarasota County Landfill and Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed on Jan 1.
