Sarasota Crash Leaves 1 Seriously Injured, Disrupts Traffic

SARASOTA, FL — One person was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon and traffic had to be rerouted for a time following a motor vehicle crash.

Genevieve Judge of the Sarasota Police Department said the crash occurred at the intersection of Bahia Vista and South Tamiami Trail (US 41) in Sarasota but she did not immediately provide details of the crash.

"South Tamiami Trail is closed between Waldemere Street and Irving Street," Judge said Tuesday afternoon. "Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes."

The crash is being investigated by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.
