Sarasota Police Search For Man Who Robbed 2 Hotels

Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed employees at 2 hotels early Wednesday morning

SARASOTA, FL - Sarasota Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed employees at two hotels early Wednesday morning.

About 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, the man walked into the lobby at Quality Inn, 4800 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The suspect implied he had a firearm. The clerk gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect left northbound on North Tamiami Trail. There were no injuries.

About 12:35 a.m., the same suspect attempted to rob the clerk at the Days Inn, 5000 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. The suspect again implied he had a firearm and demanded cash. After a short conversation between the clerk and the man, the would-be robber fled southbound on North Tamiami Trail without any cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as a male, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin build, mid to late 50s, blue eyes and light color hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black shirt under the hoodie, long blue shorts and black water shoes.
