Sarasota Shooting Under Investigation

Sarasota Police say a man was shot in what appears to be an attempted armed robbery.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an early Thursday morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

According to the agency, the incident happened in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Bay Street around 5 a.m. Oct. 5. Police say two men got into a fight during what appears to have been an attempted armed robbery. One man shot the other in the stomach and then fled the scene.

Police say the victim is recovering at a local hospital. The accused shooter has not been brought into custody. Further information is not being released at this time, including the name of the victim. Police have not provided a description of the suspect.
