Shooting Near Shopping Center Under Investigation: Sheriff
At least two cars of people shot at each other in the University Town Center area Saturday night, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said.

SARASOTA, FL — Deputies are investigating a Saturday night shooting in the busy University Town Center shopping area, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Around 7:30 p.m., the Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 911 calls about a possible active shooter situation.
According to witnesses, people in at least two cars shot at each other in front of several businesses in the 200 block of Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, the sheriff’s office said. Both cars were traveling northbound on Cattlemen Road toward University Parkway. There were no injuries or any property damage.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office’s non-emergency line at 941-316-1201.
