April 6 | Louies Modern

Louies Live First Friday Night: Crazy, Sexy, Cool ‘90s

8 to 11 p.m.

Offering a different theme every month, April’s First Friday gives tribute to the Crazy, Sexy, Cool ‘90s, including a costume and dance contest. The winner of each contest gets his or her drink tab covered for the remainder of the night along with that of one friend. Contests begin at 9:00 p.m. DJ Joey D Sarasota will spin ‘90s tunes to get people on the dance floor. Happy Hour drink specials are available all night as well as Ketel One promotions.

April 6 | Wine Walk to Ca’ d’Zan 2018 | The Ringling Museum

TableSeide’s Modern Events catering division joins other notable restaurants at The Ringling Museum’s Wine Walk to Ca' d'Zan 2018. Guests experience reimagined spaces while exploring and discovering beauty in unexpected places or in a different light. Across the grounds, creatively themed stations with enticing food and wine pairings offer culinary delights from Sarasota’s top caterers as well as experts from Total Wine & More. The wine and dine journey culminates with a dance party on Sarasota Bay – a wine pairing unlike any other and a must-do event for culinary and wine enthusiasts or wannabees!

Sunday Funday

Come for one or come for all! Three fun dining and imbibing events and reasons to come to Louies Modern on Sunday(s), including no corkage fee for customers who want to bring in their own bottle of wine.

Jazz Brunch

11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

One part jazz trio including Michael Witty (vocals/piano), John Lamb (former bassist for Duke Ellington Orchestra) and guest drummer; two parts Louies’ award-winning brunch with omelet, seafood, salad, fresh fruit and Bloody Mary stations including $5 Frosés by the glass and $5 bottomless Bloody Marys and Mimosas; and three parts fun, friends and family.

Sunday Afternoon Social

2 to 5 p.m.

@ Louies Modern bar and patio breezeway. This mid-afternoon gathering time is ideally suited for someone or some-ones looking for something fun to do on a Sunday afternoon or somewhere to go after brunch and still be ready for work on Monday morning. Special offerings this month include White Cosmopolitans, Cranberry Basil Mules, Cranberry-Chili Sauced Wings, Cranberry Farro Amandine Salad and Cranberry Sorbet. Live DJ for dancing away the afternoon.

Sunday Supper (and no corkage fee) | Proper Steakhouse | $45/person

4 to 9 p.m. or until sold out

@ Louies Modern’s dining room. Perfect for families or groups of friends looking for something out of the ordinary to end the weekend (or start the week). In addition to the regular à la carte menu, diners can also enjoy a specially themed supper with a different inspiration each month, along with the added bonus of having the corkage fee waived if they want to bring in their own bottle of wine. The Proper Steakhouse menu includes:

Entree: 20 oz. wood-grilled bone-in porterhouse steak | burgundy mushrooms | creamed spinach | loaded Idaho baked potato

The exclusive Sunday Supper: Chef’s Dinner is offered to a group of 12 people at 6:30 p.m. for an interactive experience with Chef Jose. Guests are seated at the dining room bar where they can watch Chef Jose prepare and serve their food to them, offering a personalized touch to their dining experience.

Indian Table Cooking Class with Deepa | $65/person includes all food, cooking demonstration and recipe booklet; vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available

Learn how to make quick and easy everyday Indian meals using traditional ingredients, with a different theme and new insights each month. Deepa will share her tips and techniques in these interactive sessions where guests can participate or simply spectate while also enjoying the collective fruits of labor. Recipes shared so guests can recreate dishes at home.

Storytellers: Wine | $25/person

6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Louies’ new Storytellers series highlights specific spirits or food items for guests to learn more about them and have the opportunity to get up close and personal with our purveyors. This month's series focuses on wine with five distributors showcasing their favorite two wines to each table for a total of ten tastings. Dinner service for guests attending this event is additional and encouraged for more insights into great food and wine pairings.

Libby’s Café + Bar joins other restaurants and vendors at this neighborhood Cinco De Mayo celebration where guests can imbibe and dine, including Libby’s own Tecate, Tequila and Tamale special that includes a beer or shot and two tamales for $12 until sold out. Festive music and lots of camaraderie make this annual spring rite of passage a not-to-be-missed celebration.

May 13 | Mother’s Day | Libby’s Café + Bar | Louies Modern | Muse at The Ringling

Indulge and honor mom (and the family) with the time-honored brunch tradition with al fresco and indoor dining options and elegant buffets at Libby’s Café + Bar and Louies Modern or à la carte brunch dining at Muse at The Ringling. Made-to-order stations, including classic breakfasts to specialty brunch options, homemade treats and sweets plus chef carving, seafood, salad and hot items satiate every palate, from the young to young at heart.

For Moms who prefer the evening celebration, all three restaurants will be offering à la carte menus with Libby’s and Louies also adding some evening dining specials. Reservations are highly recommended for one of the year’s busiest dining-out holidays.
