Team UnitedHealthcare joins Walkers Countrywide to Raise Money for Type 1 Diabetes Research as Part of Annual JDRF One Walk
Twenty-five UHC staff and family members joined Team UnitedHealthcare to raise $3,200 as part of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. One Walk.

Team UnitedHealthcare joined the One Walk™ movement to help raise money for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research as part of the annual JDRF One Walk™ held on Sat., April 16, 2016 at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Twenty-five UHC staff and family members joined Team UnitedHealthcare to raise $3,200 as part of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. One Walk, one of 10 similar type events held in other Florida communities, including Cocoa Beach, Jacksonville, Pensacola, Sarasota, Bradenton, Boca Raton, Stuart, Miami, Tampa and Tallahassee. Nationwide, One Walk events draw 900,000 people in 200 communities, who laced up their sneakers to help fund life-changing research for T1D. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults – approximately 80 people per day – are diagnosed with T1D, which is estimated to affect more than three million Americans including 1.25 million children.

“I am proud that UnitedHealthcare was able to show its support both as a sponsor and through our employee commitment,” said Nicholas Zaffiris, CEO of UnitedHealthcare South Florida. “It is testimony to the UnitedHealthcare mission and our team to take an active role in supporting important causes and medical research,” he added.
