Tidewell Treasures leases space in Sarasota for second location

Tidewell Treasures, a resale shop benefiting the Tidewell Foundation, has leased an 11,000-square-foot retail space in Sarasota to serve as its second location. The resale shop currently operates out of an 8,500-square-foot space in Venice. This new location, located at 5441 Palmer Crossings Circle in the Palmer Crossing Shopping Center, will more than double the size of its operation and help expand the organization’s reach.

Brie Tulp, RPA, and Nick DeVito II, SIOR, of Ian Black Real Estate represented the tenant. Kerri Atkins of RMC Property Group represented the landlord, Palmer Crossings 4 LLC.

“Many people believe that COVID-19 killed retail sales, but we have not seen many vacancies in properties of this size,” said DeVito. “The space will provide Tidewell Treasures with the added space to grow their resale business, as well as synergy with the existing tenants in the shopping center.”

Palmer Crossings is located within a half-mile of Interstate 75 and near the main entrance of Palmer Ranch, one of the largest master planned communities in Florida. The shopping center is anchored by Sweetbay, Bealls, Office Max, and a freestanding Chick-fil-A on State Road 72.

“This is a terrific location for reaching more of our Sarasota supporters for donations of gently used items and for shoppers looking for great value,” said Debbie Mason, President of Tidewell Foundation. “As the region grows, our foundation will add more resale stores to better connect with our community and supporters of our not-for-profit hospice and home health system.”

Tidewell Treasures plans to renovate the existing space to create an open-floorplan showroom. The resale shop specializes in furniture, small appliances and housewares. It also offers a varied selection of clothing and accessories from leading department stores and designers, along with books from known authors, jewelry, framed art, gifts and collectibles.

All proceeds from Treasures support Tidewell Foundation, the foundation established to provide perpetual support for Tidewell Hospice. Celebrating more than 40 years as the region’s not-for-profit hospice, Tidewell provides compassionate care for patients and families facing end-of-life challenges.

Tidewell Treasures Sarasota is expected to open its new location in September.
