SARASOTA, FL — Former President Donald Trump will speak at a Save America rally in Sarasota during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The rally will take place July 3 at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, 3000 Ringling Blvd., according to Trump’s website. Doors open at 2 p.m. with the rally starting at 8 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Trump originally announced that he would speak in Tampa July 3. That event is no longer on his schedule.

In addition to the former president, other speakers in Sarasota include Sen. Joe Gruters, chair of the Florida Republican party, and Sarasota County Commissioner Christian Ziegler, vice chair of the state GOP, according to a flier for the event.

Though Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden, he won Florida with more than 51 percent of voters supporting him.

He moved permanently to Mar-a-Lago, his private club in the town of Palm Beach, after leaving the White House in January.

Trump’s first post-presidential rally is scheduled for Saturday at the Lorain County Fair in Ohio, according to his website.
