Vaccine Clinic For Ages 12 And Older Scheduled Saturday
Both the Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines will be available Saturday at Sarasota Square Mall.
SARASOTA, FL — The Department of Health in Sarasota County is planning a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine clinic Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Sarasota Square Mall, according to a news release from the county.
First and second doses of both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines will be available at the clinic, a partnership with the State Region 6 Incident Management Team, the county said.
This means the clinic is open to anyone older than 12 years old. The Food and Drug Administration recently expanded its emergency use authorization for the Pfizer brand vaccine to include teens ages 12 to 15. The Moderna vaccine is available to anyone 18 and older.

“This is a great opportunity for our community. Fully vaccinated students will not be required to quarantine out of school or from sports unless they develop symptoms," Chuck Henry, Sarasota County’s DOH health officer, said.

Appointments are not required for the clinic. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Consent forms are available at the site.
Pfizer second doses are available to those vaccinated on or before April 24, while Moderna second doses are available to those vaccinated on or before April 17.
The DOH in Sarasota County also operates a no-appointment-necessary walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Sarasota Square Mall Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Only Moderna will be distributed at these weekday clinics.
Everyone receiving a vaccine must present a valid ID, a signed consent form and be ready for the 15-minute wait after receiving your vaccine. Individuals walking up for their first dose are asked to return to the same location 28 days later to receive their second dose, as they will not receive a second-dose appointment reminder.
