Work Gets Underway On St. Armand's Park Garage

The four-story garage will house 503 parking spaces, including adjacent surface parking. It is expected to be completed in December.

SARASOTA, FL -- Ground was officially broken Wednesday, May 23, on the new St. Armand’s Parking Garage.

The ceremony took place at the construction site at 47 N. Adams Drive, adjacent to Sarasota County Fire Station No. 3.

The project is a result of the city’s collaboration with St. Armand’s merchants, property owners and residents to address parking needs in this shopping and restaurant destination.

The four-story garage will house 503 parking spaces, including adjacent surface parking. It is expected to be completed in December.

The construction is being completed out of season to minimize impacts to parking availability at St. Armand’s. Drivers are encouraged to use the south surface lot off Fillmore Drive or on-street parking spaces during construction.

The $12 million construction project is being funded through a special assessment on commercial land owners and paid parking, which will begin when the garage is open.

The new garage will include a rooftop solar panel to capture solar energy and help power the facility.

Public restrooms will be available on the first floor.
