150 FL Duke Energy Crews Headed Home After 2-Week Ida Deployment

In addition to offering assistance to restoring power in Louisiana, the electric company donated $1 million worth of meals to help victims.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL ? Following about a two-week deployment Duke Energy St. Pete crews helping Entergy Louisiana restore power there knocked out by Hurricane Ida's fierce winds, the 150 Florida teams are scheduled to return home Tuesday, a news release said.

The Florida crews helped restore power to thousands in areas such as Baton Rouge and Thibodaux, Duke Energy said. Thibodaux was one of the hardest hit areas, according to Duke. During the weekend, linemen crews worked near the John Deere Facility, where the tractor company showed their appreciation to the Sunshine State workers by feeding them.

Duke Energy also donated $1 million worth of meals and materials to United Way of Southeast Louisiana to assist in Hurricane Ida relief. Semi-trucks filled with loads of Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) and COVID-19 personal items that included masks, hand sanitizers and other personal protective equipment were also dropped off to community partners of Duke's in Louisiana.
