Ten dollars spent at a local Winn-Dixie turned one man into an instant millionaire with the Florida Lottery's 50x Cashword game.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man is $2 million richer after he won a scratch-off game from the Florida Lottery Tuesday.

William Day purchased a $2,000,000 50X Cashword game for $10 from Winn-Dixie, 3327 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N., St. Petersburg, and claimed the top prize at the Tampa District Office, a Florida Lottery news release said. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $1,760,000.00. The retailer will receive a $4,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $10 game, $2,000,000 50X Cashword, launched in December 2020 and features more than $229 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $2 million. The game's overall odds are 1-in-3.37.
