2 Overnight St. Pete Shootings, 11-Year-Old Boy Injured: Police

St. Petersburg police are investigating shootings that took place early Thursday at two different neighborhood locations in St. Pete.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL —An 11-year-old boy was shot as he slept inside his St. Pete home, and a 43-year-old woman in another St. Pete house was shot as she slept early Thursday morning, St. Pete detectives said.

The first shooting occurred at 12:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Seventh Street South, authorities said. The 11-year-old boy woke up with when a bullet injured his foot. Investigators said someone fired shots from outside, and a stray bullet hit him. The boy has non-life-threatening injuries.

The second shooting happened about an hour later when a 43-year-old woman woke up in bed with a gunshot wound to her lower leg, detectives said. Police said that once again, someone from outside fired shots into the house located in the 1300 block of 21st Street South. Her injuries are non-life-threatening, according to officers.
