American Stage's 'Spelling Bee' Takes Over Demens Landing

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee runs through May 26 at Demens Landing.

Sing and spell along with your favorite group of school-age nerds at American Stage Theater's presentation of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."

Once a year American Stage sets up shop in Demens Landing for theater in the park and this year they are presenting the Tony Award-winning musical through May 26.

"Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser," American Stage describes the musical. "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime."
