Bayfront Health St. Petersburg to Welcome New CEO

From Bayfront Health St. Petersburg: John McLain has been named Chief Executive Officer of Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, effective July 17, 2017. McLain comes to St. Petersburg from Venice Regional Bayfront Health where he has served as CEO since early last year. In this role, he was a strong leader in setting the future course of the system and rebuilding physician, employee and community confidence in the hospital."

The physicians, nurses and other caregivers at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg are a highly skilled and compassionate team," said McLain. "Patients are receiving quality care each day, from emergency trauma services to elective procedures. I look forward to supporting and promoting their good work throughout the community."

During McLain's tenure at Venice Regional Bayfront Health, he spearheaded the hospital's efforts to receive approval from the state to build a replacement hospital in Venice. Care access points were increased across the service area and patient surgeries grew significantly, particularly GYN, bariatric, plastics and ENT. The hospital's heart program had its second busiest year in the program's history. Under his leadership, the hospital was honored by theGreater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce for its investments in the community."

Over his nearly 30 years in hospital administration, McLain has developed strong leadership skills and remained focused on employee, physician and patient satisfaction and operational excellence. He previously served as CEO of hospitals in Tennessee and Virginia and in administrative roles at hospitals in Alabama and Georgia."

John brings a breadth of experience and strength of leadership that will serve our hospital and community," said Michael Brown, Chair, Bayfront HealthSt. Petersburg Board of Trustees. "We have an outstanding program of clinical services and he will help us build on our many strengths."

McLain earned his master's degrees in Healthcare Administration and BusinessAdministration from Georgia State University in Atlanta and bachelor's degrees in Biology and Religion from Emory University.
