Biff Burger, Yianni's Cafe, Mahuffers Cited By Health Inspectors
Walk-in freezer floor soiled, grease under fryers and cracked lid on ice machine are a few of the violations found in Pinellas restaurants
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL –A walk-in freezer floor soiled, grease under fryers and a cracked lid on an ice machine are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently at Pinellas County restaurants.
Joe'as Crab Shack, 2730 Gulf To Bay Blvd, Clearwater, was cited for seven violations on April 26, including soiled reach-in cooler gaskets; walk-in freezer floor soiled; and stop sale issued on food stored at potentially hazardous temperatures - cooked beans and sausage stored in small plastic containers (operator discarded items).
Biff Burger, 3939 49th St N, St. Petersburg, was cited for 10 violations on April 26, including walk-in freezer floor soiled; reach-in cooler gasket torn/in disrepair; and grease accumulated under fryers.

Yianni's Cafe & Grill, 514 Dodecanese Blvd, Tarpon Springs, was cited for 17 violations on April 25, including accumulation of debris on exterior and interior of silverware washing machine; ceiling/ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease, dust or mold-like substance; and food stored on floor in walk in freezer.
Mahuffers, 19201 Gulf Blvd, Indian Shores, was cited for eight violations on April 25, including lid for ice machine cracked; accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of ice machines; manager lacking proof of food manager certification; and no proof of required state-approved food safety training provided for any employees.

In the last 21 days, 165 Pinellas County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 185 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Pinellas restaurant inspections, click here.
The inspectors made note of 11 Pinellas restaurants that passed inspections without any violations in the past week: Perrys BBQ Cajun Grill, 6901 22 Ave N Space #VC02, St. Petersburg; Funnel Vision, 4122 16 St N, St. Petersburg; Juicedrive Juicery, 5895 Gulf Blvd, St. Pete Beach; and the following restaurants at Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Drive:
- Levy Kahwa Portable
- Central BurgerLevy Cotton Candy
- Fan Favorites
- Sweet Stack Shack
- Papa Johns
- Levy DND 3rd Base
- Grand Slam Grill
- Mr. Softee
Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
