The Big Catch, Lu Lu's, Cedar Lounge Cited By Health Inspectors
Live roaches, cracked floor tiles and a leaking pipe are some of the violations found recently in Pinellas County restaurants.
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL –Live roaches, cracked floor tiles and a leaking pipe are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Pinellas County restaurants.
The Big Catch At Salt Creek, 1500 2nd St S, St. Petersburg, was cited for 10 violations on June 28, including reach-in cooler gasket in poor repair; leaking handwash sink pipe; and restaurant operator must obtain a public food service license from the Florida Division of Hotels and Restaurants within 30 days.
Lu Lu's Ice Cream And Candy Shop, 19823 Gulf Blvd. Suite C, Indian Shores, was cited for eight violations on June 28, including live roaches found in restaurant, with one live, large roach crawling under the door from the attached store; contaminated food, including a key lime pie, a peanut butter pie and a strawberry rhubarb coconut cream pie (the food items were exposed to contamination from a non-employee); and ice buildup in reach-in freezer.

Cedar Lounge, 904 Mcmullen Booth Road, Clearwater, was cited for five violations on June 28, including floor tiles cracked, broken or in disrepair in back kitchen; carbon dioxide/helium tanks not adequately secured; and manager lacking proof of food manager certification.
In the last 30 days, 142 Pinellas County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 145 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Pinellas restaurant inspections, click here.

The inspectors made note of eight Pinellas County restaurants that passed inspections last week without any violations: Patricia Frederick Franks, 25778 U.S. Hwy 19, Clearwater; Main Street Boys, 6657 49 St N, Pinellas Park; Aleca's Kousina, 107 Dunbar Ave. Ste G, Oldsmar; Sweeties Fire Mouth Mama Grill, 1502 Clement Road, Lutz; The 511 Food Co., 107 Dunbar Ave. Suite G, Oldsmar; Jimmy's Flavors, 1425 S. Betty Lane, Clearwater; Checkers, 11315 66th St., Largo; and Shawn's New York Hotdogs, 107 Dunbar Ave., Suite G, Oldsmar.
Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
