Celebrate Record Store Day in St. Pete

Since 2008 Record Store Day has been helping vinyl make a comeback.

Thousands of music fans across the country will be lining up outside record stores Saturday, April 20, for the 6th annual Record Store Day.

On Record Store Day musicians and bands release limited edition records, singles and memorabilia. This year's Record Store Day ambassador is White Stripes, The Dead Weather and Raconteurs front man Jack White.

In St. Petersburg you can participate in Record Store Day at Daddy Kool Records and Bananas Music. Daddy Kool opens at 7 a.m. and Bananas Music at 9 a.m.

Also participating this year is The Disc Exchange, which is located at 6712 Central Ave.

"RSD stock is pretty limited this year. We are getting a lot but we are seeing lesser quantities. Some of the items that were limited to 1000 we at least got one," Bananas Music wrote on Facebook. "We are passing out forms for you to fill out with your wants so it makes it quicker at the counter. We got really good fill on some things and very limited on others. ... Looks like a whole lot more stores across the Country are now participating in RSD."
