Durty Nelly's to Close, Reopen as Country Bar
The St. Petersburg Irish pub will close April 20 and open in May as a country bar called "The One Night Stand." Bishop Tavern will also close and become a craft beer bar called Yard of Ale.
Durty Nelly's, the downtown St. Pete Irish pub, will be closing its doors for good on April 20, the bar announced to its fans on Facebook.Â
"Durty Nelly's last night is Saturday 04/20. Then it'll shut its doors for good. So we're throwing one last party with green beer and shenanigans for all."Â
While the pub is shutting down, the location will not stay empty for long. According to Durty Nelly's, a country bar called "The One Night Stand" will go into its space at 149 1st Ave. N.

The new bar would open in May.Â
"I'm sure everyone has heard the rumors so here it is. This weekend Durty Nelly's was purchased by a group of individuals who have been involved in the downtown hospitality scene for a long time," the bar wrote on its Facebook page April 5. "In about ten days Durty Nelly's will be shutting its doors. We'll be remodeling and rebranding opening the first week of may as downtown's first and only Country Rock Bar, 'The One Night Stand.' "

More Changes Downtown? Bishop Closes, to be Replaced by Yard of Ale
The closing of Durty Nelly's marks just one of multiple changes to the area of First Avenue North and Second Street.
Another closing on First Avenue North will be the nightclub, Bishop Tavern and Lounge.Â
According to its Facebook page, Yard of Ale will completely renovate the Bishop Tavern space to make way for an outdoor patio. The craft beer bar is set to open in "just a few weeks."
"That's right, the rumors are true and the plans are drawn up. Thanks to the team of owners from MacDintons Irish Pub, Yard of Ale will be the newest addition to the Downtown St. Pete community.Â
... We don't want to give away too many details but we will be tearing down a portion of the building at our location to make room for a great outdoor patio space."Â
Vintage Makes Way for Club Detroit
Earlier this year, Vintage closed its doors to make way for the reopening of the rock venue "Club Detroit."Â
"We regret to inform you that the rumors you may have heard about Vintage being evicted from our current location are true," the club wrote on its Facebook page in February.Â
