Flute & Dram Celebrates Repeal Day in Style

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Dec. 5 marks the end of the Prohibition era, and Beach Drive’s Flute & Dram is commemorating this milestone with a special Repeal Day party.

Guests are invited to wear era-inspired attire while enjoying an intimate concert by jazz vocalist Gloria West, a 1930s craft cocktail menu and an evening of dancing. Fringe dresses, arm garters, striped suits, fedora hats – and all that jazz – are encouraged with a prize for most spirited and runners up. The party kicks off at 5 p.m. for libations and the chef’s curated menu. Gloria West & the Gents take the stage at 8 p.m. at Flute & Dram, 234 Beach Drive N.E.

Gloria West and The Gents bring old school stride-swing jazz with a sultry twist to stages across Tampa Bay, including the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, The St. Pete Coliseum and the Tampa Theatre. They deliver originals, pop covers, favorites from the '20s, '30s and '40s, and even old-time movie classics and Disney songs, all with an old jazz feel.
Era-inspired libations include Bee’s Knees – gin, lemon juice, honey syrup, garnished with lemon; Mary Pickford – white rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, luxardo, garnished with pineapple wedge; Sidecar – rye whiskey, triple sec, lemon juice, with a half sugar rim; and the Hemingway Daiquiri – white rum, grapefruit juice, lime juice, luxardo, simple syrup with a grapefruit wedge

Food will include rare caviars – wild American hackleback sturgeon, wasabi tobiko, smoked trout, truffle pearl, elite Ostera surgeon reserve, Iranian pearl bareii and California white sturgeon; duck foie gras; tuna tartare garnished with lumpfish caviar; chef’s select cured meats, cheeses and assorted chef’s pairings; and Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, thinly sliced raw beef, arugula, shaved Parmesan, capers, dijon and red onion.

Dessert will consist of flourless chocolate torte and Limoncello cake.
