Gov. Scott Signs Human Trafficking Bills in St. Pete

The bills are designed to help the victims of human trafficking.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott was in St. Petersburg Thursday afternoon to sign two human trafficking bills, which aim to help and protect the victims of human trafficking crimes. 

"House Bill 1325 allows the criminal history of victims of human trafficking to be expunged," Scott said Thursday. "House Bill 1327 protects the privacy of the records of victims of human trafficking."

State Rep. Ross Spano, who was a co-sponosred the bill, said this bill lets victims know they have someone on their side.

"It really lets victims of human trafficking know that they are important and that they haven’t been forgotten," he said. "And that we will fight for them and advocate for them. No matter how long and how hard it is, we will continue to do that."
