
1. St. Anthony's Triathlon
Sunday, April 28, from 7 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., more than 4,000 triathletes are registered for the 1.5K Swim-40K Bike-10K Run competition. The will be competing for a portion of the $65,000 prize purse. The three-day event weekend begins Friday with a sports and fitness expo. The Meek & Mighty Triathlon, a short distance race for youths ages 7-14 and novice adults, as well as the sports and fitness expo is Saturday, April 27; and the St. Anthony's Triathlon is on Sunday.

American Stage Theater once again takes over Demens Landing for its annual theater in the park performances. This year, the award-winning theater will be presenting the Tony Award-winning The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee from April 26 through May 26. "Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime." 3. Green Thumb Festival

Saturday and Sunday, the Green Thumb Festival will celebrate Earth Day/Arbor at Walter Fuller Park, 7891 26th Avenue N. The free festival is from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. It will feature horticultural and environmental exhibits, programs and seminars highlighting ways to landscape effectively, conserve natural resources, recycle, and improve the environment. Highlights include trees for sale for $3, free pine seedlings, a Silent Plant Auction, Plant Diagnostic Clinic, Grow and Share programs, Children's Plant Fair, and a Standard Flower Show.Â
4. Major League Lacrosse
Major League Lacrosse, a professional outdoor lacrosse league, is coming to downtown St. Petersburg Saturday at Al Lang Stadium. The Rochester Rattlers' will be playing the 2012 MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks. The game is at 7:30 p.m., April 27 at Al Lang. According to the city, the event also features a youth tournament and activities showcasing youth and professional lacrosse. Tickets are available online at majorleaguelacrosse.com and will be available at the stadium box office.Â
5. Sleeping Beauty
Saturday night at the Palladium Theatre, the Florida Wes Ballet will be presenting Sleeping Beauty. "With music by Tchaikovsky, the premiere performance took place in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1890. Florida West Ballet’s interpretation of this classic ballet includes original choreography by Marius Petipa with adaptations by Florida West Ballet’s Ballet Master Dusanka Gradiski Ivanova and Ballet Instructor Iliana Babadjanova."
