Kids and Kubs Continue History of Giving to Local Charities

Food Drive Feb 9,11,13, 2021, provided 382 pounds of food, $310 to St Pete Free Clinic.Distribution of Trust Fund earnings of $2,811.17.

According to Ed Asay, Secretary of the Three-Quarter Century Softball Club (aka Kids and Kubs) are a softball organization that also happens to be a philanthropic organization. Over the years, the "Good Old Boys playing softball" who are happy playing softball have a more resonant brand working. We care about other peoples and cultures.

The food drive held by the Club on February 9,11,13, 2021, enabled the Club to provide 382 pounds of non-perishable food and $310.00 to the St Pete Free Clinic.

Secretary Asay announced the distribution of Trust Fund earnings of $2,811.17 among local organizations: The Boys and Girls Club of America, Daystar Life Center, Friends of the Sunshine Center of St Petersburg, Habitat for Humanity, Neighborly Care Network of St Petersburg, Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches, Police Athletic League of St Petersburg, Free Clinic of St Petersburg, Suncoast Hospice, and The TASCO Center Based Teen Program.

The Kids and Kubs incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1938. During the 39-40 season, the name" Kids and Kubs" was copywrited. A" Trust Fund" and a "Pool Fund" were established in 1981. The purpose of these funds was to establish an endowment to perpetuate the Club into the future. The trust fund enhanced by proceeds by selling a thousand copies of George Bakewell's history of the Kids and Kubs multiplied.

In 1985 the Club became a public charitable non-profit organization (501c3) with a Trust Fund totaling $30,000. Club members first began contributing to the Trust Fund in 1982, with donations ranging from $15 to $2,000. In 2021 the Trust Fund totaled approximately $100,000. Half of the income from the fund is contributed annually to charities.
