Kids and Kubs top Gulfport Boomerangs in Slugfest 23-21

The Kids and Kubs played the Boomerangs an exhibition game after their regular 62 game campaign that started Tuesday, November 3, amid the Pandemic. The Kids and Kubs applied to the City and received permission to play after signing a COVID-19 health contract with the City. No Kids and Kubs players caught the virus while playing softball on the field.

The Kids and Kubs will continue playing Tuesday and Thursday in a pick-up mode until next winter season beginning in late October 2021.

Stop by the Club's home field listed above on Tuesday or Thursday from 9:30 am to 10:00 am with comfortable clothes, a cap, shoes, and a ball glove. Bring your own water and a lawn chair. Participants will be subject to temperature check as are all Club members before entering the field of play. Batting practice begins at 9:00 AM with pick up game for the day beginning at 10:00 AM.

For the Kids and Kubs, Dennis Kuvalanka and Bill Barrett each went 4 for 4. Frank Harrell had three hits with a home run, a double, and single; Will Michaels a triple with three singles; Gus Tijerino a triple with two singles; and Frank Sirois tripled and singled. Larry Webster had two doubles and a single; Larry McCurdy had a double with two singles, and Dennis Kuvalanka doubled. The rest of the team added singles that combined for 32 hits and a club hitting average of 0.640 on the day.

Kirby led the Boomerangs with a Home Run, double, and two singles; Staley with a triple, double and single; Dow and Russell each tripled; Miller added a double and two singles. The rest of the boomerangs hit enough singles to combine for a club batting average of 0.608.
