Los Dos Plebes, Applebee's Cited By Health Inspectors

Exposed ceiling rafters, improperly stored food and backpack left on kitchen shelf are some of the violations found in Pinellas restaurants.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Exposed ceiling rafters, improperly stored food and a backpack stored on a kitchen shelf are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently at Pinellas County restaurants.

Friendly Fisherman Boat, 150 Johns Pass Boardwalk, Madeira Beach, was cited for two violations on June 7, including raw bacon and raw shell eggs stored over potato salad, and a manager lacking proof of food manager certification.

Los Dos Plebes, 14042 66th St. Suite A, Largo, was cited for 12 violations on June 7, including no hot running water at mop sink; no paper towels or mechanical hand-drying device provided at handwash sink; exposed ceiling rafters above bar; and a wet mop not stored in a manner to allow the mop to dry.

Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 4016 Tampa Road, Oldsmar, was cited for 14 violations on June 7, including a backpack stored on a shelf above prep table in back kitchen; box of peppers stored with cut salad in walk-in cooler (corrected on site); equipment and utensils not properly air-dried; and water leaking from faucet at triple sink at bar.

In the last 30 days, 119 Pinellas County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 138 restaurants aced the first visit. For more details on Pinellas restaurant inspections, click here.

The inspectors made note of five Pinellas restaurants that passed inspections during the past week without any violations: Papa Bear's Food Wagon, 15662 Bedford Circle E, Clearwater; Julis Mexican Restaurant #2, 2649 Cypress Bend Drive, Clearwater; Tiki Bay Island, 6657 49th St. N, Pinellas Park; Channels Seafood Market, 640 49th St. South, St. Petersburg; and Wingstop, 1411 34th St. North, St. Petersburg.

Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
