Memorial Day Brawl Leads To In-Custody Death

A domestic brawl on Monday morning resulted in the arrest of the alleged aggressor, who then suffered a heart attack while being transported to a local hospital.

A Memorial Day domestic dispute ended in a tragedy when the alleged aggressor in the assault suffered cardiac arrest and died while being transported to a local hospital.

According to the police report, St Petersburg police responded to a call of a domestic brawl in the 1500 block of 13th Avenue South at around 10:30 Monday morning.

After arriving at the scene, officers determined David Bowman III, 42, was the primary aggressor in the incident, which involved a fight with a number of family members.

While being placed in custody Bowman, who reportedly had a history of heart problems, complained of chest pains prior to being handcuffed, according to the report.

Bowman was then immediately transported to Bayfront Medical Center by ambulance; while en route, he suffered cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities say.

Police reported that the investigation into Bowman's death is ongoing and pending the results of the Medical Examiner's autopsy.

Bowan was set to celebrate his 43rd birthday on Friday.
