Mother Of 18-Month-Old Girl Killed In Shooting: Police

The Department of Children and Families took custody of a baby Sunday after her mother was killed in a domestic dispute, detectives said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 27-year-old woman was shot and killed in a St. Petersburg home by a man she was visiting Sunday afternoon while her infant was also in the home, St. Pete police said.

Twenty-five-year-old Temidayo Ayoola is accused of shooting the victim just before 1:30 p.m. at a house, 1253 Eighth Ave. S., St. Petersburg. Authorities said she was not from the St. Pete area.

The shooting was triggered from a domestic-related incident, detectives said. The woman died at a local hospital, police said.

Officers said they do not know the exact relationship between Ayoola and the victim.

Ayoola was arrested on a second degree murder charge, according to investigators. The infant was not harmed during the shooting. The Department of Children and Families took custody of the girl. The victim's name will be released after family is notified, officials said.
