Movies In The Park Returns With Limited Capacity

Preserve the 'Burg is bringing Movies in the Park back after last year's COVID-19 interruption. There are a few changes in place for safety.

Movies in the Park is back for 2021 after a hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic. The big screen at the downtown waterfront park will show "My Cousin Vinny," May 6, and "Two Weeks Notice," May 20.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Movies in the Park returns to the downtown waterfront North Straub Park after a year's break due to the pandemic.

It opens Thursday evening with "My Cousin Vinny,"starring Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei. The event starts at 7 p.m. with live music followed by the movie on the big screen at dusk.

Pre-pandemic, attendance was free, but this year, ticket purchases are required. Ticket prices range from $5 to $65. The $5 reduced price is for anyone who has suffered substantial economic loss during the pandemic.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions In Place:

  • Social distancing
  • Masks are required
  • Advance purchase ticketing is required
  • A max capacity of 250 attendees

Preserve the 'Burg's website shows a waitlist for Thursday's movie. The next film scheduled at Movies in the Park is "Two Weeks Notice," starring Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, May 20.
