New American Strategic Insurance Headquarters Opens Tuesday
The headquarters is a 110,000- square-foot building located near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and Gandy Boulevard. It is part of a 13-acre, $42 million project.

Tuesday afternoon city officials will celebrate the opening of the American Strategic Insurance headquarters in St. Pete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.Â
According to the city, the headquarters is a 110,000- square-foot building located near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North and Gandy Boulevard.
It is part of a 13-acre, $42 million project.

"Our new headquarters is a symbol of the company's success and a celebrated milestone," said John Auer, ASI's CEO in a news release. "As we progress in our 16th year of operation, I look forward to enjoying the work environment that is focused on employees and fosters our values of attitude, speed and innovation."
The new building, which is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, is the first of two slated for the site, according to the city. Construction on the second building has already started and it is scheduled to be completed in about a year.Â

"I'd like to welcome ASI and their employees to their beautiful new headquarters here in St. Petersburg's Gateway region," said Mayor Bill Foster in a news release. "ASI's project is one of several currently under construction in St. Petersburg. We're experiencing a large amount of new growth, not seen since 2005 and 2006, and ASI's new development is an important part this economic resurgence in St. Petersburg."
In addition to the new building, city officials said the campus includes a five-story parking garage that faces Gandy Boulevard. The garage features more than 800 parking spaces. The campus, once completed, also will feature a courtyard amphitheater.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is Tuesday, May 21 at 3 p.m.
