New DMV Location Opens In St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg residents can make appointments online for motor vehicle services at the new location.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg residents have a newly opened Department of Motor Vehicles location for tag renewals, driving tests, tax collector services and other motor vehicle services.

The new location is 40,000 square feet and has a self-service kiosk located just inside the entry that makes it quick and easy to renew your vehicle registration. For anyone taking a driver's test, there is a driving course at the location.

No matter how convenient a DMV is trying to be, gone are the days of walking into a Florida DMV without an appointment because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although there is a new location, the DMV says on its website to not delay when making an appointment no matter where the location in Pinellas County because appointments fill up quickly.

Here is the need to know information when arriving at your DMV appointment, according to the Pinellas County Tax Collector's website:

  • Be on time.
  • Right now, they are serving Pinellas County residents. Please bring proof of residency.
  • Only the customer(s) doing business with their office will be permitted inside. Please do not bring anyone with you unless they are included in the transaction or are a minor.
  • Social distancing must be adhered to at all times.
  • Masks are required to be worn while inside any Pinellas Tax Collector office.
  • If you do not see your appointment type as an option, there are no appointments available. You will need to check back for additional availability. Please keep in mind, if you book the wrong service type, you may be asked to reschedule for the appropriate service type.

When you arrive for your appointment at a Pinellas County DMV location, expect to be greeted by security with a coronavirus screening that includes health questions. Security will also ask you to confirm your appointment with them.
