Peabody Cafe, Karma Juice Bar Cited By Inspectors
Dead insects, undercooked food, lack of required training and a floor covered with standing water are some of the violations.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Dead insects, undercooked food, lack of required training and a floor covered with standing water are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found in Pinellas County restaurants.
Little Italy Pizza Shop, 3523 N 49 St, St. Petersburg, was cited for 10 violations on Feb. 8, including operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license; case of dome lids stored directly on floor; sack of onions stored on floor in dry storage area; food manager certification expired; and interior of reach-in cooler soiled with food residue.
Peabody Cafe, 600 5th St. S, St. Petersburg, was cited for eight violations on Feb. 8, including employee with no hair restraint while engaging in food preparation; no proof of required state-approved employee training; employee touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands; and cooked salmon, cheese, other cold foods held at unsafe temperatures.

Karma Juice Bar & Eatery, 209 First St Ne, St. Petersburg, was cited for 17 violations on Feb. 8, including accumulation of dead insects in control device observed on back prep table; ready-to-eat bean salad marked with expired date; spray bottle with chemical/toxic substance stored on top of prep cooler; and manager lacking proof of food manager certification.
Parkshore Grill, 300 Beach Dr NE, #104, St. Petersburg, was cited for 14 violations on Feb. 8, including buildup of grease/dust/debris on hood filters; floor covered with standing water, dish pit with broken floor tiles; tomato sauce, broccoli salad, blue cheese and other foods held at unsafe temperatures; and encrusted material on can opener blade.

Simple Greek, 312 3rd St S, St. Petersburg, was cited for eight violations on Feb. 7, including raw eggs stored over ready-to-eat Greek yogurt (items rearranged to prevent cross-contamination); undercooked chicken; vacuum breaker missing at mop sink faucet; and lack of proof of state-approved training for some employees.
In the last 21 days, 219 Pinellas County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 131 restaurants aced the first visit.
Inspectors made note of five Pinellas County restaurants that passed inspections this month without any violations: Irish Eddie's Hotdogs, 2535 E Bay Dr, Largo; Ken's Classic Llc, 1188 Kapp Dr, Clearwater; The Chilln Dolphin Soft Serve, 6657 49th St N, Pinellas Park; Ximena's Food Truck Services #2, 8416 N 56 St, Temple Terrace; and Ximenas's Food Truck Services, 25778 US 19 N, Clearwater.
Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
