ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Update: Lanes have reopened on Gandy Boulevard westbound following a fatal pedestrian crash investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Update: A 54-year-old St. Petersburg man was killed early Thursday morning when he walked in front of a Ford truck traveling westbound on Gandy Boulevard near San Martin Boulevard, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at 5:53 a.m. Traffic continues to be affected as detectives investigate the fatality.

A fatal crash involving a pedestrian is affecting the morning commute near the Gandy Bridge.
A person was hit by a car and killed near the intersection of Gandy Boulevard westbound and San Martin Boulevard just before 6 a.m. Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Detectives are investigating the crash, and drivers are being directed onto the bike path lane to drive around the crash scene.
For an alternate route, drivers can take the Howard Frankland Bridge.
