Shorecrest Softball Routs St. Pete Catholic, Advances to First Ever Final
The Chargers defeated the St. Pete Catholic softball team 18-3 in three innings Tuesday evening.
Powered by home runs from senior catcher Hannah Smith and sophomore first baseman Lindsay Eaton, the Shorecrest Chargers defeated the St. Pete Catholic School Barons 18-3 Tuesday in the 2013 Class 3A softball regional semi-final.Â
Shorecrest scored four runs in the first inning, eight in the second and six in the final frame, after which the mercy rule was applied.Â
With Tuesday's win, the Chargers are advancing to the team's first ever 3A regional final, which will take place Friday on the road against either Moore Haven High School or King's Academy.Â
