Update: Deadly Force Investigation Active, Street Reopens
After hours of lane closure on Fifth Avenue North due to a Pinellas County deadly task force investigation, all lanes have reopened.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Update: As of Wednesday after just 3 p.m., all lanes of Fifth Avenue North just east of 34th Street N have been opened following an investigation led by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's deadly task force late Wednesday morning.
Patch reached out to the St. Petersburg Police Department and to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office to find out details, but both agencies declined to share information during this active investigation.
A spokesperson with the sheriff's office said their public information officers will release information later. Neither agency confirmed if deadly force was used by a St. Pete police officer.

Drivers who usually take this route to access main thoroughfares will need to find an alternate route. Delays on Fifth Avenue North near 34th Street North can also be expected Wednesday afternoon because of the investigation.
