Registration Open For Marine Science Spring Break Camp
Weedon Island Preserve will host the three-day camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. over spring break.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – This year, spring break doesn’t have to be a week full of, “There’s nothing to do!”
Weedon Island Preserve will host the Going Coastal Spring Break Camp from Wednesday, March 15 to Friday, March 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The three-day camp, geared for students age 7 to 11, focuses on marine science themes.
The camp will combine the best of both worlds with a balance of recreational and educational activities designed to engage and challenge participants with activities and team-building exercises. Scheduled activities and lessons include:

- Coastal Habitat Hiking
- Guided Canoe Paddling
- Saltwater Fishing
- Ethical Fishing on the Weedon Pier
- Art Activities
The camp will be led by a UF/IFAS Extension Sea Grant Agent. Mentors from The Ohio State University Buck-I-SERV program will participate as teaching assistants for the program. UF/IFAS and OSU have a six-year partnership agreement to provide marine science education for children.
The camp is set up as a 4-H Special Interest Club. Parents or guardians will be required to fill out a 4-H membership and a liability form in order for their children to participate. The forms will be e-mailed to parents prior to the camp.
