Robber Working 'Security' and Lobsters in 'Mini's – Only in Florida!
If you savor tender Florida lobster tails, want to save a few cents on gas and can't get enough of weird Florida crimes, read on!

Wednesday isn't just hump day, the middle of the work week. There actually are some intriguing news, events and conversations happening around the 'burg. Here's a quick look:
1.) Does this guy look familiar? Police are asking the public to take a hard look at a grainy surveillance photo of the suspect who robbed the Fifth Third Bank, on 66th Street, Tuesday. Although the image looks out of focus, the shirt this fellow wore may be familiar to those who know him. It was emblazoned with the word, "Security." Was this his idea of a bad joke? Read the article for details.
2.) Save a few cents on gas. Winn-Dixie grocery stores are partnering with the Fuel Rewards Network to help customers who use the Winn-Dixie rewards card save money at the gas pump. The rewards program will be introduced to shoppers today (Wednesday, July 24) at the Winn-Dixie, at 2210 9TH ST N, St. Petersburg. Read here for more details.
3.) Lobsters in Minis? At the stroke of midnight today (Wednesday), Florida's lobster mini-season started. Yum! But the mini-season also will be gone in the blink of an eye – ending at midnight Thursday. The Coast Guard is reminding the diving and boating community to be safe. For more info on the mini-season, go to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website.
4.) Skip the doggie bag and bring Fido with you. Why not just avoid the hard work of diving for your own Florida lobsters and head to a favorite seafood restaurant? And take your favorite four-legged best friend along with you, too. Patch just posted an interactive map that shows restaurants in Pinellas that are dog-friendly. There are plenty in St. Pete. Check them out.
5.) No dog? No problem! Of course, you will need a dog, if you plan to enjoy doggy dining at a pet-friendly restaurant. Pinellas County Animal Services just so happens to be offering discounts on dog and cat adoptions in August, just days away! Plus rescue dogs – and cats – are so grateful for getting a second chance at a permanent home. They make seriously awesome pets. What are you waiting for? Click here for details.
