Sandbag Locations For St. Pete Residents And City Closures

As residents prepare for Tropical Storm Eta, the city of St. Pete is offering sandbags at select locations and has announced city closures.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As Pinellas County residents prepare for Tropical Storm Eta, the city of St. Petersburg has sandbag locations open at the following locations:

  • Site 1: JW Cate, 5801 22nd Ave. N
  • Site 2: Bartlett Park, 22nd Avene South and Seventh Street South
  • Site 3: Mangrove Bay Golf Course: 875 62nd Ave. S

All locations are open until 2 p.m.

"Please be patient with city workers filling sandbags, and with everyone else out in this weather working for you," Mayor Rick Kriseman said on Twitter. "Prepare, then hunker down for the rain, wind, potential flooding. Listen to local media and authorities. The worst should be behind us by tomorrow a.m."

Kriseman has also declared a state of local emergency as of Wednesday afternoon related to Hurricane Eta.

Due to the hurricane, all recreation facilities, including recreation centers and pools will be closed and programming, including childcare & fee classes, will be canceled as of 2 p.m. on Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday.
