St. Pete to Celebrate Bike to Work Day 2016

Event spotlights a healthy alternative for the morning commute.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The morning commute to work often includes backups on the interstates, frustration and wasted time. The City of St. Petersburg wants to show its residents a different way to get to work.

St. Petersburg will host Bike to Work Day 2016 on Friday, May 20 as a healthy alternative to the morning commute. Residents interested in participating can join up with the organized bike ride from one of three locations:

  • North: Coffee Pot Park, northeast corner of First Street and 30th Avenue North
  • West: The Historic Train Station (Morean Center for Clay), 240 22nd St. S.
  • South: Bartlett Park, northwest corner of Fourth Street and 18th Avenue South

The three different locations will start their ride at 7 a.m. and are scheduled to arrive at Williams Park, 330 Second Ave. N., at 7:30 a.m. Free coffee will be available at Williams Park.

At 7:50 a.m., Mayor Rick Kriseman and the St. Petersburg City Council will welcome riders and Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin will give a first-year recap of Healthy St. Pete.
