St. Petersburg to Host 2017 City Budget Open House

The June 7 meeting will feature breakout sessions from various city departments.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Residents of St. Petersburg have been invited to help craft the city’s 2017 fiscal year budget and share their opinions during an interactive open house on Tuesday, June 7 at 6 p.m. at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N.

The open house is an opportunity for residents to have one-on-one discussions with Mayor Rick Kriseman, members of the City Council and other city administrators as the budget is being developed.

From 6 to 7 p.m., residents will have a chance to ask questions and share ideas during break-out sessions hosted by administrators and senior staff from the City Development, Public Safety, Neighborhood Affairs, Public Works, General Government and Leisure Services departments. Afterward, Kriseman and Budget Director Tom Greene will present an overview of the budget development process before opening the floor to public comment.

Residents wishing to speak will be limited to three minutes. Following the public comment period, City Council members will have an opportunity to share their priorities.

“I am proud of what we have accomplished in the Sunshine City,” Kriseman said. “The City budget for Fiscal Year 2017 will build on those successes, as well as our vision and values. (Residents) have a stake in how the city allocates and spends taxpayer dollars. I encourage everyone to use this opportunity to meet with and share your ideas with Council members and city staff as we develop our next budget.”
