St. Petersburg to host Pier Approach Workshop

Design concepts for the project will be presented to the City Council during the meeting.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The St. Petersburg City Council will host a workshop to discuss design concepts for the Pier Approach on Thursday, June 9.

City staff and representatives from W Architecture & Landscape Architecture and Wannemacher Jensen Architects have developed the project over the past four month. The workshop is an opportunity for the design team to discuss the project with the City Council.

The workshop will begin immediately after the regularly scheduled City Council meeting, approximately 5 p.m.

The Pier Approach connects the downtown St. Petersburg core to the Pier with an active, connected and coordinated sequence of facilities and venues, using the Downtown Waterfront Master Plan as a guide. The project boundaries follow the waterfront from the Renaissance Vinoy Hotel to Pioneer Park, and Beach Drive to Spa Beach.

The first phase of the design contract was approved by the City Council in late January 2016. The concept for the project is expected to complete in June or July 2016.

The workshop will take place at St. Petersburg City Hall, Conference Room 100, 175 Fifth St. N. The meeting will be televised live on Bright House Channel 641, Verizon Channel 20 and WOW Channel 15.
