St. Petersburg Hosts Green Thumb Festival 2016 on April 23 and 24
Event celebrates Arbor Day and other gardening activities.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – For the 30th year, the City of St. Petersburg will give a thumb’s up to all things green with its annual Green Thumb Festival.
The free event takes place Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walter Fuller Park, 7891 26th Ave. N. Mayor Rick Kriseman will accept the Tree City USA award from the Arbor Day Foundation and present the Green Thumb Annual Awards on April 23 at 1 p.m. on the main stage.
The Garden Club of St. Petersburg Flower Show will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Walter Fuller Recreation Center.

Activities during the Green Thumb Festival include horticultural and environmental exhibits, programs and seminars highlighting ways to landscape effectively, conserve natural resources, and recycle and improve the environment.
More than 2,000 trees will be up for sale for $5 each, and 500 butterfly plants will be given away each day. The Green Thumb Festival also features a food court, free mulch, tree care demonstrations, a plant auction, a plant diagnostic clinic and tool sharpening. The children’s area has been expanded to include tree climbing for $10, along with a children’s plant fair, crafts and more from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.

New this year is the Decorating Garden Wagon Parade on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The event, which features a parade of decked-out, non-motorized wagons, is open to all ages. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three wagons. Registration at the show is $10. Click here to download a copy of the event flier and registration form.
