Tampa Bay Mourns Radio Host Dave McKay’s Death
The QYK radio personality was found dead in his St. Petersburg home Thursday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Tampa Bay area residents may not be familiar with Steve Ehmke, but many have followed his alter ego, Dave McKay, for years. The popular QYK radio personality and co-host of the “Dave and Veronica Show” was found dead in his St. Petersburg home Thursday morning.
According to St. Petersburg Police, McKay, 55, didn’t show up at 99.5 QYK’s St. Petersburg station for his normal shift on the show. That prompted a co-worker to check in on him. The co-worker discovered McKay dead around 6:30 a.m.
Police say McKay’s death does not appear to be suspicious. They are, however, investigating it carefully and releasing few details.

Getting into a battle of wits with Dave McKay was a fool's errand. He was larger-than-life, always on. A good smart man. He will be missed.
