Tourism Numbers in Pinellas Continue Positive Gains

  • The hotel occupancy rate for February was 81.5 percent, which is up from 79.2 percent in February 2012. That is a 2.5 percent year-over-year increase. January saw a 3.5 percent increase
  • Tampa/St. Petersburg was ranked No. 4 as a Top U.S. "feeder market" in February, only behind New York City, Chicago and Philadelphia. 
  • More than 44,000 tourists from Canada visited Pinellas in February, which is 4,000-person increase from 2012. 
  • Florida residents visiting Pinellas continued to increase with more than 19,000 visiting in February.
  • Visitors report staying in the area for an average of 6.5 nights. 
  • 93.9% of February visitors rate their experience in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area as “satisfying”; 89.9% are planning a return trip.
