Trump is fighting the Deep State, the Deep State of Dementia; as are so many other elderly folks in Florida. This may go a long way toward explaining their predilection for Trump. Their predilection transcends comprehension because they are transcending comprehension. But they see someone just like themselves and that makes them feel safe and secure, especially when Trump repeats it over and over because that’s what they do too- repeat themselves over and over. They see someone proud of acing his cognitive test; just like they hope to. And someone who talks about a series of mini-strokes and can talk endlessly for hours as though he is having a conversation with himself. That is very comforting if you are also fighting the Deep State. It's completely understandable and deserves our compassion.
