ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club has opened the doors of several of its dining establishments, including Paul's Landing and the Promenade Bar and Veranda Patio after its temporary closure because of the coronavirus pandemic, and it is operating differently than before to increase coronavirus precautions.

Instead of reusing menus that many guests would normally touch and share, the resort has switched to QR code for contactless menus. After you scan the QR code with your phone, their full menu appears on your screen.

The hotel has also created a structured sanitation routine for its staff members.

"We leave 30 minutes between each seating, which allows us to thoroughly disinfect the chairs and table," Vibeke Sansone, director of sales and marketing told Patch in an email. "We have minimized and/or removed any reusable condiments on the tables."

Marriott has mandated that all guests, when walking around inside the hotel building, must wear masks regardless of where they are going inside the hotel. They can take off their masks when they get inside their room or when they sit down to order food at one of their restaurants inside the hotel.

While sitting outside at Paul's Landing, the hotel said they do have more than 6 feet of distance between each table, because they measure from the chairs between one table and another. A total of 65 people can sit outside.

In addition to their regular clean hygiene polices, staff members are also required to follow these added policies during the pandemic while at work:

  • They use a UV light to disinfect the hand held, portable credit card machines that servers use at each table.
  • Every staff member must have their temperature taken prior to clocking in, and if anyone does show signs of coronavirus then they are required to follow doctor's care and stay home for at least 14 days.
