Weekend Storms Likely in St. Pete
Forecasters say the potential for strong afternoon storms is high Friday and Saturday, but things should dry out a little bit on Sunday, Aug. 11.

St. Pete residents hoping to enjoy the great outdoors this weekend might want to plan activities early in the day.
The National Weather Service’s Ruskin office says Tampa Bay is in for a typical weekend of sunny mornings followed by the potential for afternoon storms putting a damper on outdoor fun. Storms anticipated to move through the area on Friday and Saturday afternoons have the potential to be severe, said Jon Jelsema, a meteorologist with the weather service.
“Some of those storms could be fairly strong with potentially damaging winds,” Jelsema said.
While storms are expected to be fairly widespread Friday and Saturday, Jelsema said that shouldn’t be the case on Sunday, Aug. 11.
