Whiskey Bar Set to Open in St. Pete

Revitalization of the Edge District continues as construction is underway for a new restaurant and bar that will specialize in whiskey. 

The Bearded Thistle will be opening at 48 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Street N. 

According to the Celtic pub's Facebook page: "St. Pete's newest bar! The Bearded Thistle is a celtic pub with a focus on the finest whiskies from around the world and authentic representation of the Scottish and Irish culture."

Opening is set for late 2013. 

"We will have the finest and broadest selection of whiskies in the region, from every part of the world," the business wrote on Facebook.

In the last 12 months a number of food/drink businesses have opened in the Edge District including, but not limited to: Genaro Coffee, The Great White Buffalo, Engine No9, The Bends and Bodega on Central. 

The Bearded Thistle won't be the only new bar in the area as The Amsterdam is set to open before the end of the year. The Amsterdam will specialize in European beers. 

Green Bench Brewing Company is also on the way in The Edge.
